The Rio Usamacinta from the air, ca. 1973

This photo was taken in early 1973. I was flying into the Lacandon Rain Forest for the first time, hoping to both gather macaw parrot feathers for the Hopi and Zuni ceremonies, as well as to convince the Lacandones to stop shooting and eating these sacred birds.
